Total country-code TLD (ccTLD) domain name registrations were approximately 143.1 million, a 0.3 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2016, and a 1.7 percent increase year over year.1,2
The .com and .net TLDs had a combined total of approximately 143.6 million domain name registrations in the domain name base3 in the first quarter of 2017. This represents a 0.8 percent increase year over year. As of March 31, 2017, the .com domain name base totaled 128.4 million domain name registrations, while the .net domain name base totaled 15.2 million domain name registrations.
New .com and .net domain name registrations totaled 9.5 million during the first quarter of 2017. In the first quarter of 2016, new .com and .net domain name registrations totaled 10 million.
